Recruiting Construction Professionals in Edinburgh

Background
The Bilfinger Berger Group has been operating in construction and infrastructure works for over 125 years. Their highly rated technical expertise and proven management approach is currently being successfully deployed across the exciting Edinburgh Tram project.

Bilfinger had not previously used online recruitment as part of their attraction strategy and they traditionally used search and selection agencies to recruit construction professionals. This approach simply wasn’t delivering the right calibre of candidates and was also proving to be very expensive to their business. They approached Beyond Interactive to help them reduce their staff turnover, reduce cost-per-hire and enhance their employer proposition.

Solution
Our first step was to research the Construction sector with a specific focus on Edinburgh and its surrounding areas. We then set out to create a proposition that fully reflected Bilfinger’s recruitment offering and carefully select the right attraction methods. For phase one, the main sites used for this campaign were S1jobs.com, Justconstruction.net, Jobsite.co.uk and Careersinconstruction.com. The campaign consisted of html target emails, behavioural targeting and carefully placed banners across key areas of each site chosen.

Results
The campaign ran for 4 weeks and in total, the campaign received well over 1,300 online applications with a cost per application of £13.50. A total of 6 hires yielded from this campaign with a cost per hire of £2,900.
